RESIDENCY AND LEGAL REQUIREMENTS

Applications to marry are made through the Attorney General who issues the marriage license following the three day residency requirements for the couple.

ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS REQUIRED ARE AS FOLLOWS:

• Passports

• Original of proof of Decree Absolute if parties are divorced. If the decree is not the original, a certified / notarized copy must be obtained

• Original of Death Certificate in the case of widow / widower

• Original proof if name changed by Deed Poll

• If aged under 18 years, evidence of consent of parents is required in the form of an original affidavit stamped by a Notary Public

• If any of the required documents are not in English, an authenticated translation must be available

It is recommended that copies of all documentation be sent several weeks in advance to expedite the license application process
